He secures her in his apartment, intending to discreetly exit the city. Their getaway is camouflaged by the chaos ensuing from a major bombing incident. Aboard a train, their journey attracts the attention of an elderly woman.

Trusting his instincts, Whiteman entrusts the girl to the elderly lady while he pursues a potential tail. In a surprising twist, the lady is revealed as Hillinghead's progeny. Though Whiteman successfully deals with the tail, it’s not the secret organization he anticipates. Iris' pursuit results in her capture and subsequent shooting by Lorna, an agent from the mysterious Chapel Perilous. With Iris in their clutches, a cryptic plan starts to unfurl.
