In Episode 4 of "Bodies," set in 2023, Hasan stumbles upon the intriguing name "Hillinghead." As conversations unfurl, we learn Hasan was a detective from the 1890s. Probing further, a colleague unearths data about a mysterious deceased individual from Long Harvest Lane and an eerie 1941 case file showcasing an identical corpse. Upon inspection by Barber, suspicions arise about potential digital tampering of the photographs.

Delving deeper into the puzzle, Hasan and Barber research Harker Legal. Their search reveals its establishment by Julian Harker in 1894. On a house visit, Hasan unexpectedly encounters Andrew Morley.

In a chilling twist, Andrew unveils a secret chamber harboring multiple preserved cadavers of Gabriel Defoe from various timelines. As Hasan seeks answers to this horrifying discovery, Andrew's emotions unravel. He implores Hasan to relay his regrets to his son. But before she can react, Andrew traps Hasan in a shadowy confinement, leaving her cries for help echoing in the void.

Flashback to 1941: Whiteman's actions take an unforeseen turn. Contrary to expectations, he spares a young girl's life, feigning her murder upon realizing he's under surveillance. He secures her in his apartment, intending to discreetly exit the city. Their getaway is camouflaged by the chaos ensuing from a major bombing incident. Aboard a train, their journey attracts the attention of an elderly woman.

Trusting his instincts, Whiteman entrusts the girl to the elderly lady while he pursues a potential tail. In a surprising twist, the lady is revealed as Hillinghead's progeny. Though Whiteman successfully deals with the tail, it’s not the secret organization he anticipates. Returning to the pair, he's met with a sorrowful departure as the girl succumbs to poison administered by the elderly lady.

Fast forward to 2053: Iris attends a talk by Defoe, who's convinced humans possess time-travel capabilities. Their post-talk interaction deepens, culminating in Iris offering Defoe refuge due to his safety concerns.

Over wine, they bond over London's 2053 advancements. However, their pleasant interaction is cut short. An unexpected neighborly visit sees Defoe seize an escape opportunity. Iris' pursuit results in her capture and subsequent shooting by Lorna, an agent from the mysterious Chapel Perilous. With Iris in their clutches, a cryptic plan starts to unfurl.

This episode, while pivotal in the storyline, grapples with the complexity of intertwining four timelines. Nevertheless, the unfolding events hint at an explosive second half of the season, promising viewers an exhilarating experience.
